This Episode will feature Chris Carmichael ex-professional cyclist and founder and CEO of CTS, one of the original and most respected companies in the endurance coaching industry. Chris was a member of the 1984 Olympic Team and the iconic 7-Eleven Pro Cycling Team, and is a bestselling author of more than 10 books on training and nutrition, including “The Time-Crunched Cyclist” and “The Time-Crunched Triathlete”. Coach to the US Olympic Cycling Team in 1992 and 1996, he was named the US Olympic Committee Coach of the Year in 1999, inducted into the US Bicycling Hall of Fame in 2003, and was given a Lifetime Achievement Award from USA Cycling in 2004. Chris and CTS have been the trusted coaching resource for amateur athletes as well as National, World, and Olympic Champions.

On this podcast we spoke with Tara Nielson about wellness and self care. Tara is in her third and final year at Seattle University School of Law. She also co-found and serves as Vice President for The Scooty Fund, a mental health advocacy non-profit that focuses on improving the mental health of young people. The Scooty Fund was established in 2018 to honor the life of Will “Scooty” Taylor, who died by suicide at the age of 21 in 2017.

With twenty years of experience in coaching, youth development, and program facilitation, Adrienne has trained hundreds of coaches, worked with dozens of organizations nation-wide, and provided strategy for higher education, outdoor education, and sports-based youth development programming. She’s worked for organizations such as Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, University of Washington Center for Leadership in Athletics, Up2Us Sports, and currently supports the King County Play Equity Coalition. Adrienne was a collegiate student athlete at Western Washington University and holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Washington Evans School of Policy and Governance. She lives in Seattle, WA.

Dr. McCullough developed and assisted in the creation of the United Nation's Sport for Climate Action Framework and is currently working with the Commonwealth Secretariat for Sport Development and Peace to assess the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 into sport throughout the Commonwealth. He is also the director of the Sport Ecology Lab at Texas A&M and he is co-director of the Sport Ecology Group.

Dr. Jimmy Bagley is an Associate Professor of Kinesiology at San Francisco State University where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise physiology. Dr. Bagley directs the Muscle Physiology Lab, and has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts in the fields of exercise physiology, muscle biology, and health technology. He collaborates with researchers in academia, industry, and government from around the world with the aim: to better understand human performance. Dr. Bagley’s work has been featured in popular media outlets, such as the Discovery Channel, CNN, Women’s Health, Men’s Health, and Runner’s World. He is also an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Physiological Society (APS), and National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA). We spoke with Dr. Bagley regarding his Virtual Reality (VR) research and how it's development may be used for exercising.

Dr. Brianna Durand studied physical therapy at Texas Woman's University in Houston, Tx after earning her Bachelor’s of Athletic Medicine at the University of Texas San Antonio. During and after graduate school, she received training on pelvic floor physical therapy in addition to her orthopedic manual skillset. She was one of the co-founders of PT Proud, a group in the American Physical Therapy Association, which serves to advance education regarding the LGBTQ+ community in physical therapy. She is passionate about providing care to individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, especially those undergoing hormonal/surgical transition. Dr. Durand is the founder of Empower Physiotherapy, a concierge private practice in Seattle.
